Zorro's Fighting Legion
This classic 12 episode Republic serial played before movie going audiences in the late 1930s. Don Diego Vega (actor Reed Hadley) and his alter ego, the masked crusader Zorro, find themselves in the small south of the border town of San Mendolito helping the fledging council with its conflict with the Yaqui natives. The natives, as it turns out, are being prodded to revolt by a mystery man wearing full-bodied armor and a golden mask calling himself Don Del Oro and possing as a the native's god. Don Del Oro's ambition is to become Emperor of Mexico. Thus, while Don Diego infliltrates the town's council to find those behind the plot, Zorro organizes a militia compossed of his fan club (masks included) and leads the fight against Don Del Oro's henchmen.
