A Walk In The Sun
An infantry division lands in Salerno, Italy with orders to capture a fortified farmhouse. Director Lewis Milestone, the creator of the 1930's epic war movie "All Quiet on the Western Front", takes an all star cast headlined by Dana Andrews and Richard Conte and presents an honest portrait of war. There is no demonizing of the enemy or comentary on politics, instead he focuses on the effect the de-humanizing experience has on the group of soldiers; it addresses their fears and hopes, their highs and lows and the ultimate bonding with each other that results.
