The Vampire Bat (1933)
The townfolk of Klineschloss are being murdered one by one in a sinister manner. The corpses are found drained of blood and with pucture marks around the neck's jagular. The elders suspect a resurgance of vampirism but Karl (Melvyn Douglas), the lone police officer of the town, remains skeptical. Town simpleton Herman Gleib (Dwight Frye) and his affanity for bats becomes the obious suspect. However, after he is lynched to death by the scared townspeople, the murders don't stop. Will Karl be able to find the monster before he strikes again? Actress Fay Wray polishes her damsel in distress routine that would make her a cult icon the very same year in "King Kong" (1933).
