The Stork Club (1945)
Betty Hutton plays a hat-check girl at the Stork Club who saves an indigent man from drowning.
As it turns out, the man wasn't as penniless as he first appeared. Indeed, he's a millionaire,
and repays his savior with a swank NYC apartment. This doesn't sit well with her G.I.
boyfriend, who suspects the rich guy of ulterior motives. Hutton song and dance numbers
include "Doctor, Lawyer, Indian Chief," "Baltimore Oriole," "I'm a Square in the Social
Circle" and "In the Shade of the Apple Tree."
