The Sphinx (1933)
English actor Lionel Atwill ("Mystery of the Wax Museum," "Dr. X," "Sherlock Holmes And The Secret Weapon") is Jerome Breen, a prominent figure in the community, who donates money by day and murders by night. The cops are wise to him, but because he is a deaf mute, they have their work cut out for them. Could this rich, beloved, handicapped socialite actually be a psychotic killer? What about the witnesses who swore they heard the murderer speak? Mute's can't speak, everyone know that. What gives?
