Royal Wedding (1951)
Dancing siblings Tom (Fred Astaire) and Ellen Bowen (Jane Powell) set sail from New York to England. On the ship, Powell falls in
love with an English lord (played by rat pack alum Peter Lawford). Concerned that his sister's latest
dalliance may sink their act, Tom kills time crossing the Atlantic by dancing about the ship. Once
in London, Tom himself becomes smitten by a dancer. Will the brother and sister act survive
these bouts of love? A light musical comedy featuring the masterful hoofing of Fred Astaire and
Jane Powell.

Based on the real life dancing partnership of Fred and sister Adele Astaire.
Judy Garland was cast for the role of Ellen but MGM ended her contract. She was rumored to have
attempted suicide after being fired from the film.
