Oliver Twist (1933)
While not as well known as many of the other version of Charles Dickens orphan epic, 1993's "Olvier Twist" was the first Dickens Hollywood film whose moderate success opened the dam. The next five years saw "Great Expectations", "David Copperfield", "The Mystery of Edwin Drood", "A Tale of Two Cities", and the classic "A Christmas Carol" all brought to the silver screen. Few versions of Dickens works were made into films after that and most were done by British studios. Dickie Moore starred in the title role.
