Metropolis (1927)
There's no other movie quite like this old classic, which has many memorable images and a distinctive
way of telling its story. The plot is rather outlandish at times, and many interesting or significant
details are never explained, but the forcefulness of the rest of the production more than makes up for
it. Once you are drawn into the world of the film, the combination of impressive visuals and strange
story makes for a uniquely satisfying movie. The world of the future is divided into to polar opposites:
The Thinkers who plan adn The Workers who carry out plans but lack any vision. A Thinker decides to visit the
world of the Workers and is astonished by what he finds.
