Detour (1945)
Nightclub piano player Al Roberts is hitchhiking accross country to join his girlfriend in Los Angeles. When the man who picks him up suddenly dies, he assumes the identity of the dead man afraid the police will blame him for the death. Things turn for the worse when he picks up Vera, a fellow hitchhiker, and she discovers his secret. She blackmails him and gets him involved in her schemes.
