Bonanza (1959 - 1973)
The Cartwrights are righteous, hard working and well respected. They work
from early in the morning until they sit down for dinner, eating meat and potatoes.
Under the scorching sun they meet problems like racism, Indians, outlaws, and
every other imaginable hardship that comes with surviving in the wild west. Great
entertainment. A TV-series like this will never be made again. Famous directors
such as Robert Altman and John Cassavetes were among the many who stood behind
the camera on various episodes. The series also featured many great actors
through the years, including: James Coburn, Jack Lord, Adam West and Leonard Nimoy.

Trivia:
During the first season, guest stars were paid more than the acutal stars of the show.
Producers felt the cast wasn't famous enough to attract viewers.
At first the Cartwrights were written to be hostile to visitors of the Ponderosa. This
changed after Lorne Green argued successfully that such a large ranch would be a civic centerpiece
of the community and thus have visitors come and go at all times.
