Twenty-five years after Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger met at a tennis tournament, it's still a love match - despite some rough spots along the way.

And now the Terminator and the NBC newsgal have decided to rededicate themselves by formally renewing their wedding vows, say sources.

"Arnie and Maria have decided to put their troubles behind them and make a fresh start at married life," says a Kennedy family insider.

"They fell in love at first sight and want to return to the way they felt that day. The plan is to have a priest perform the ceremony, and they want the whole Kennedy clan there."

The romantic event is scheduled to take place at the Shriver mansion in Maryland, with a big party afterward. The couple is hoping that Maria's ailing mom Eunice, who recently fractured her hip, will be able to attend.

Insiders say Maria and Arnold would like the guest of honor to be NBC anchor Tom Brokaw, who introduced them to each other at the Robert F. Kennedy Pro-celebrity Tennis Tournament in 1977.

The relationship started off with a bang when Arnie served up a joke that turned out to be a real winner.

After he was introduced to Eunice Shriver, he knocked the family matriarch for a loop by cracking:

"Your daughter has a great body."

Maria later recalled she was impressed. "He's funny ... and gutsy.

"I was pretty sure when I met him that I'd marry him. I thought I'd have a challenging life with him. Not an easy life, but an interesting one."

And challenging it has been for the Dateline correspondent.

Maria, 46, and Schwarzenegger, 55, dated for nine years before they wed, but their courtship and then marriage were marred by reports of Arnie's flirting, groping and even a long-term affair. Arnold categorically denied the allegations.

Schwarzenegger was reported to have had a seven-year relationship with former child star Gigi Goyette, which began when Gigi was 16 - a revelation that caused him to scrap plans to run for governor of California.

Reports claimed he was caught having sex on the set of Eraser in 1996 and had an affair with his Total Recall co-star Rachel Ticotin.

Last year, London TV host Anna Richardson claimed he pulled her on his knee during an interview, saying, "I want to know if your breasts are real."

But despite their problems, one thing is certain, say insiders - Maria and Arnold are still in love and committed to each other.

And he is a devoted dad to their kids: Katherine, 12; Christina, 11; Patrick, 9, and Christopher, 4.

"Their renewal of vows is going to be a celebration of a marriage they both consider to be a great success," says the insider. "I guess that's all that matters."
